Celebrate National Garden Week

The week of April 13th is National Garden Week. Please join The Farmer's Garden in celebrating this special week of all thing related to gardening.

  • Did too many of your seeds germinate and provide you with more seedlings than you have room for in your garden?
  • Do any of your perennials need dividing and the divisions need a new home?
  • Did you dig up your summer flowering bulbs or rhizomes last fall only to discover that they've multiplied and now you don't have room to replant them all?
  • Did you purchase a shiny new garden tool and then realize that you already owned a similar one?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, there's someone in your local area who would be thrilled to take your unwanted items off your hands and solve your problem. Register or sign in to place a free classified on our website and make a garden conection. It's not every day that you get to be part of a win-win situation.

What is The Farmer's Garden?

The Farmer's Garden is an online place to make in-person connections between gardeners, want-to-be gardeners and people interested in healthy eating across the United States.

How does it work?

Registration to become a member of The Farmer's Garden community is free. Members can search and post free classified ads to trade, sell or give-away excess homegrown produce, tools, gardening space or other gardening related items and activities with people in their local area. Food banks and individuals can also post wanted classifieds for surplus food, garden tool, gardening space, etc.

How would becoming a member benefit me?

Do you sometimes grow more food than you can eat? Are you interested having access to locally grown produce? Would you like to meet other gardeners in your area? Do you need a garden tool just for a day and want to borrow one? Would you like to garden, but don't have the space or time? Are you looking to give or receive gardening advice?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, a free membership in The Farmer's Garden community will provide what you're looking for.

The Farmer's Garden wants to enable more people to have access to home gardens and healthier food. We want to build community, one tomato at a time.
